Although the Copenhagen Climate Conference 2009 ended with a bit of a whimper and a meaningful international price for carbon has yet to be established, wind continues to be the fastest growing form of new power generation around the world as jurisdictions adopt renewable portfolio standards. To learn more about the wind industry, as well as a few organizations that Aeolis considers particularly germane to the BC scene, we recommend the websites below.

  • Windustry: Provides a good overview of how wind energy works.
 
  • EWEA: The European Wind Energy Association.

  • RISØ DTU: Danish National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy. 

  • AWEA: American Wind Energy Association. Excellent resource on small and large wind development as well as information on wind energy development in the USA. 

  • BCSEA: BC Sustainable Energy Association. This is another valuable resource that assists in developing policy responses as well as providing wind-positive solutions to BC Hydro, the Integrated Land Management Bureau and the provincial government.

  • CanWEA: The Canadian Wind Energy Association. Excellent resource on wind development in Canada including research on implementing wind energy in Canada and basic FAQ information. Includes directory of industry players in Canada. 

  • Clean Energy BC: Industry resource organization that works with BC Hydro to promote the opportunities for wind and other independent energy in BC.

  • BC Government: (Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources): Information on alternative energy in British Columbia.

  • BC Hydro: BC Hydro webpage on renewable energy.
